Suggested Writing Prompts to use with Tweens:
- Write a story (or poem) about being king or queen of the world.
- Write a list of things you wish you could do before you turn 13.
- Write a story about a wish that comes true.
- Write a poem about wishing.
- Look up a slightly unusual seasonal word (such as "swelter" during the summer) and use it in a story, poem, or essay.
- Write an acrostic poem about your favorite treat (ice cream flavor, dessert).
- Write a limerick about food.
- Write a synonym poem about something you like to eat: a title followed by one couplet. The title is the type of food, the first line consists of three or four adjectives describing the food, the last line rhymes with the first.
- Write a list of things that make you smile.
- Write a poem about something that makes you smile.
- Imagine your favorite book (or movie or television) character traveled through a magic portal into our world. Write a story about what would happen.
- Write your own "About the Author" page.
